Fashion Friday - kitten heels

I have a confession to make: I never spend a lot of money on shoes.

In my line of work, I'm constantly running, jumping, walking, and playing which wears my shoes down super quick. I've also been known to battle the elements for the perfect shot which gets my feet wet or snowy or sandy in the process. All of these things pretty much spell disaster for my shoes.

My solution to cute shoes that are both affordable and stylish is Payless. I have a favorite pair right now that are by American Eagle and I am in love with them. Yes, a lot of the love comes from the adorable kitten heel, but most of the love comes from how comfortable they are to shoot in. Oh, and the amazing sound they make when I walk. Listen...

Hello Kiefer!

Remember Celeste, the gorgeous mom-to-be?

She gave birth to Kiefer who is the sweetest little guy! I was able to photograph him just a couple days after he was born and all I can say is he definitely got some of mom's model talent. :)

Happy family!

Check out these shoes---Kiefer is stylin' already!

Thank you Celeste, Josh and Kiefer! Can't wait to see you again for his 3 month shoot!

The Porterfield Family

You know those people that you meet and instantly like? The Porterfields are those people.

From the minute I walked in their home, I felt at home! How could you not feel comfortable when you're greeted with smiles like these?

I love that they let me photograph everywhere in their home. I started out on their awesome couch in the living room, then moved to the master bedroom where I told them to be as casual as possible. I like when things come together and don't look too posed.

We also photographed in their daughter's room, where most of the time was spent sprawled out on the floor.

We also went outside for some photos and I'm especially happy with how the pictures turned out. Can't you just feel the love they have for each other?

Did I mention they like having fun? :)

This last set is my favorite! Little G was being tickled and was laughing hysterically!

A HUGE thanks to the Porterfield family!
I can't wait to see your smiling faces again soon!

two clicks

I like carrying my little Canon point-and-shoot around because you never know when something fun might arise...like an impromptu game of bowling!

These are my 2 favorite clicks from the night:

Fashion Friday - Thaw 2009

I'm a little late (OK, a lot late) posting about Thaw, Seattle's fashion fundraiser benefiting HDSA (Huntington's Disease Society of America). For the past 2 years, I've volunteered at this super-fun event and writing this post makes me wish they held 2 each year so I wouldn't have to wait until next year to help again!

This year I arrived early to help the bars get set up. I cut lemons and limes, doled out bottles of vodka to each bartender, and stocked each station with enough ice to make polar bears feel at home. Once the guests started arriving, I went to help out at the Thaw Shop for the rest of the evening. The Thaw Shop was really amazing--independent designers from Seattle and Portland donated pieces (handbags, earrings, rings, ascots, etc) to sell and all (yep, 100%!) of the proceeds from those sales went directly to the HDSA. Tons of people came through to browse and buy, and by the end of the night we had sold nearly everything!

One of my favorite things at Thaw was the USnaps photo booth. Check out the fun pics my volunteer friends and I took (I'm the one in the middle, with a Lavender DRY Soda in hand):

After totally forgetting my camera last year, I made sure to bring it along this year so I could snap a few pics during the Thaw Spring Fashion Show. Here are a few favorites (you can click on each one to view it slightly larger):

I definitely encourage you all to attend Thaw 2010. You'll have lots of fun and you'll feel good knowing that you're helping raise money and awareness for Huntington's Disease.
