I'm back!

Hello all!

I'm back from my vacation and after days upon days of relaxation and fun, I'm excited to get back to work! I've got some fun shoots lined up in the next couple weeks that I'll be sharing. And speaking of sharing, I'm excited to share with you the newest addition to my family...

Jamie, my youngest sister, decided she wanted a cat as her high school graduation gift and Oscar has stolen the hearts of everyone in my family (except for Bella who's not entirely sure what to think of this little fluffball).

I pretty much find any excuse I can to drop by my parents' house to hang out with the little guy. I conjured up an excuse and went over there last night and to my surprise there were two kittens running around the house! Being that Oscar's so playful and energetic, my parents thought he should have a playmate, so they ended up getting another kitten! The new guy doesn't have a name yet so I'm pushing for "Puma". I'll try to find time in the next few days to get over there and snap some pics of him. Maybe I'll take a couple of him and Oscar while I'm at it, just to overload you all with cuteness.

camel back cat

Puck is one of my absolute favorite cats to photograph. He's super soft, very cuddly, and wow does he like to talk--more than me even!

Last time I had a session with him, he was all about his new cat food bowl. This time he was obsessed with his owner's camel back couch, which was really exciting for me since it was a fabulous setting for photos. Puck must have been just as excited as I was because he was meowing through the entire shoot and even gave me a bunch of kitty kisses before I left. Oh man, do I love kitty kisses. :)

mon petit Bella

I recently paid a post-op visit to a certain gallbladder-less kitty. I'm happy to report that mon petit Bella is recovering nicely. Her stomach staples were removed at the Seattle Veterinary Specialists last week and the vet said her fur should start growing back soon. This is great news, especially since she seems a little embarrassed about bearing so much skin. :)

Paco & Bella

My parents' cat Paco has been missing for a month now and despite all our efforts to locate him with "missing cat" posters and calls to the Humane Society, it's time to accept the fact that he is gone. I'd like to think that he wondered away and found another home with better cat food and that's why he's gone. I know it's not probable, but that's OK...it makes it slightly less painful.

On a happy note, Bella is doing much better. She had been sick for weeks and weeks--poor thing went from 8 pounds all the way down to 3. At first my parents thought it was because Paco had gone missing and she was depressed, but after a few days of not being able to keep food down, they took her to their vet for some tests...and then took her back for more tests...and more and more. Everything came back negative, but she was getting sicker and sicker as the days went on. My parents finally decided to take her to see a doctor at Seattle Veterinary Specialists for a second opinion and found out within minutes that her gallbladder was incredibly infected and she needed to have surgery. After a few days of being on an IV, she was finally well enough to go under the knife. Everything went smoothly and she's now at home recovering nicely.

I would like to give a big THANK YOU!!! to everyone at Seattle Veterinary Specialists. You took such great care of Bella and you gave my whole family peace of mind.

Hamish

I traveled up to Edmonds the other day to help my friend Heather bake cupcakes. Well, it was more like me snacking on yummy goodies and watching her make them.

While I was there, she introduced me to her cats, one of which loved having his picture taken. No need to tell me twice! I took a break from cupcake sampling, grabbed my camera and photographed Hamish, a handsome little guy with the bluest eyes I've ever seen.

Doesn't he look like he should be on a cover of Cat Fancy? ;)

Not only is he a good looking cat, he's also handy in the kitchen. He was watching Heather closely to make sure all of the cupcakes were meeting his high standards.

Here's a sneak peek of a beautiful cupcake masterpiece, baked and designed by Heather:

I'll post more yummy creations soon...

Bellissima

Bella did not like being in my studio, but I managed to get a couple shots before she scampered away. I love her gorgeous green eyes!

I did some Photoshop experimentation and ended up with this fun design.
I'm thinking they would make fun note cards for pet owners.
Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in!
