cousins

It's so amazing to me how social networking (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc) has become such a big part of my business. Back in December, I got a Facebook message from my high school drama teacher asking if I'd make a trip to her place to photograph her kids with their cousins as a gift for Grandpa. I jumped at the chance to see her again since it had been almost 9 years since I was in her class!

These cousins were so much fun to photograph!

We popped outside for a quick sibling picture and luckily I was able to get a couple fun ones before the rain started coming down.

They were telling each other secrets and giggling the entire time. I loved it. :)

Know how we got the brothers smiling? The big cousins got out their fart noise machine and put it right behind me! Hey, whatever works...

It's easy to get great shots when you're working with such fun kids!

The kids convinced Mom & Dad to jump in a shot too and I'm glad they did. Aren't they a gorgeous family?

Thanks again Kristen! Can't wait to see you all again in the summer! :)

Happy Birthday to me

Today I am 27.
I have mixed feelings about this age.
Part of me is kinda freaked out,

part of me is feeling goofier than ever,

part of me is feeling reflective,

and part of me is finally feeling comfortable in my own skin.

27, please treat me well...and if you can make it last extra long and delay my 28th birthday by even a little bit, please do so. :)

Many thanks to my wonderfully talented friend Charity who always makes me feel comfortable in front of the device that I'm always behind.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Remember when you were a kid and you'd give out little handmade Valentines to your classmates? How much fun it was to transform a shoe box into the mailbox that would sit on your desk all day, waiting to be filled with paper hearts with glued-on lace, glitter and candy?

I decided that I wanted to return to my elementary school days and give my friends little Valentines, not only  because it's fun getting mail that isn't a bill, but also because it's a great way to let them know I love having them in my life.

Here's what I did:

I bought candy---> Dum Dums because lollipops are the perfect kid candy and they come in super fun flavors (bubblegum, banana split, coconut, mango, etc).
In Photoshop I created a Valentine background, pasted an image of myself onto it (I'm holding my hands out because that's where the lollipop will go in the finished product), then printed out a bunch of wallet size photos.

On each photo I made a little cut just above my top hand and one just below my bottom hand so the lollipop would easily slide in.

Voila! Here are the finished Valentine cards.

Happy Valentine's Day! Don't forget to tell the people in your life how much you love them! :)

Welcome to Amandruary!

Yes, Amandruary.
My friend renamed February in honor of my birthday and I'm taking this month to celebrate. When I say celebrate I don't just mean partying it up (although there will be some of that for sure), I mean letting myself truly enjoy this whole month and do the things that make me happy.

Example #1: At 2am on February Amandruary 1st I had a craving for mac & cheese, but instead of talking myself out of it like I'd normally do, I went ahead and indulged, savoring it's processed-cheesy-deliciousness. Stove top mac & cheese never tasted so good!

Example #2: The sun was shining on Amandruary 2nd and even though it was bitterly cold I decided to pretend it was summer and wear my cute Spun beater tank outside...without a jacket. Totally worth the goosebumps.

Example #3: Yesterday I rolled my car windows down and blasted Skeelo's "I Wish" while dancing along and rapping very loudly. This is something I do frequently, but the difference was that this time I didn't stop when other drivers gave me funny looks. In fact, I kinda hoped they would hear the song and rap along with me (it didn't happen, but I think I'll keep trying over the next couple weeks).

Throughout the month, I'll continue sharing the fun things I do in celebration of my 27th year of being alive. One of these fun things is another giveaway which I'll reveal on Friday. You want a hint? Let's just say that I really love Spun and want others to love it too. ;)

Until then, here are a couple snap shots from my beautiful sun-filled-bitterly-cold day:
