I'm back!

Hello all!

I'm back from my vacation and after days upon days of relaxation and fun, I'm excited to get back to work! I've got some fun shoots lined up in the next couple weeks that I'll be sharing. And speaking of sharing, I'm excited to share with you the newest addition to my family...

Jamie, my youngest sister, decided she wanted a cat as her high school graduation gift and Oscar has stolen the hearts of everyone in my family (except for Bella who's not entirely sure what to think of this little fluffball).

I pretty much find any excuse I can to drop by my parents' house to hang out with the little guy. I conjured up an excuse and went over there last night and to my surprise there were two kittens running around the house! Being that Oscar's so playful and energetic, my parents thought he should have a playmate, so they ended up getting another kitten! The new guy doesn't have a name yet so I'm pushing for "Puma". I'll try to find time in the next few days to get over there and snap some pics of him. Maybe I'll take a couple of him and Oscar while I'm at it, just to overload you all with cuteness.

Fashion Friday: Spun

Recently I was asked what I photograph on my own time; something I do that keeps me busy when I'm not taking pictures for clients; something that inspires me to push myself and be a better photographer. My answer was fashion. I love looking through fashion magazines, fashion photos online, fashion catalogs (the June Anthropologie catalog is to die for!). I love typing the word "fashion" into Flickr and finding pictures that speak to me (like this one and this one). So...

I've decided that Fridays will be "Fashion Friday" on my blog. This one will be short and sweet being that I have to catch a plane pretty soon (the blog post tomorrow will fill you in). This is me and the super cute
Diane Wrap Dress I got from Sara Seumae's clothing line, Spun.

I know I've blogged about how awesome she is before, but I'm going to do it again! :) I love her clothing so much and I always get compliments whenever I'm wearing any of her pieces. If you haven't checked her out, do it! Not only is her clothing awesome, she's pretty darn awesome herself.

Go Dog, Go!

I'm so excited to make this announcement:
PaddyWag (the pet division of Art of Subtlety) was asked to participate in the first annual Go Dog, Go! Canine Festival!

Here’s a little blurb about the event:

The City of Kirkland in conjunction with Kirkland Off-leash Dog Group (K-Dog) and Washington Owners of Flying Disc Dogs (WOOFD2) is proud to announce the first annual Go Dog, Go! Canine Festival. This event will be held in Crestwoods Park in Kirkland on July 25, 2009. Area residents and their canine companions can come out to enjoy games and contests in addition to flyball demonstrations and the Cascade Classic Canine Disc Championship. This event is free to the public and the goal of all this fun is to raise funds to maintain the city’s dog waste clean-up stations, with the ultimate goal of creating an off leash park in Kirkland.

I'm really excited to be part of this event and Charity (my long time photo partner in crime) will be moving back to Seattle just in time to be there too! She and I will have a PaddyWag booth set up at the park, so please come by and say hello! We’ll be offering some fun products and even a discount or two on our pet portrait packages. We’re also sponsoring a dog and owner look-a-like contest at 11:00AM, so don’t forget to bring your pup along—we’ve got 3 fabulous prizes for the winners!

Fitness photos

Who says that guys don't think about the gifts they give their ladies? In the past month, I've had two husbands purchase birthday gift certificates for their wives, both for the sweetest reasons.

The couple I'll be talking about today is Nick and Erica. Erica's been working really hard the past 3 years (yep, 3 years of hard work and determination!) to get in shape for her 30th birthday, so naturally Nick decided that her efforts should be documented through a photo session. Erica and I spent a few hours together doing a bunch of different types of photography. We started out at her home, where I set up my equipment and did studio-type shots. Afterward, we went down to Brackett's Landing in Edmonds and did some fun location shots. The weather was gorgeous that day and I loved capturing the vivid blue skies in Erica's photos!

Here are some shots from the session:

Erica blogged about her photo experience and I'd love for you to hop on over to read what she wrote. Check it out here!

Erica--thanks again for such a fun afternoon! I'm excited to find out which pics are your favorite! :)
